I love soccer. I've been playing for almost 9 years now, and although I know some people don't like soccer, take comfort in knowing they are wrong. Well, wrong is a strong word. Misinformed. Yes, take comfort in knowing they are are misinformed. Soon, you too can be informed correctly, and be able to show off your skills to your friends, family, and complete strangers!
Scoring A Goal
Scoring goals is an essential part of the game of soccer, and though not the only thing you need to know, you quite literally can not win if you don't score a goal. My goal (haha) is to teach you today the basics of scoring a goal, so that you can practice, improve, and win!!!While it does take practice, and lots of it, I'm confident that you can do it! With enough time, energy, blood, sweat, and tears, you can play ✨soccer✨!
If you prefer video format, I reccomend watching this video.
But How Do I Actually Do It?
place ball in front of you
take 2-3 steps back and to the left (if you're left footed, do the opposite)
take a few running steps up to the ball
as you reach the ball, plant your non-dominant foot next to the ball
while planting your foot, lift your other foot back
in a smooth motion, bring your foot forward, striking the ball with the knuckle of your big toe, just under the center of the ball
follow through, pulling your kicking foot across and hopping so you land on aforementioned foot
Ok, Now I Can Shoot. So What?
Now that you've learned how to shoot, you can use this skill for many a thing! Take shots from outside the box! Take corner kicks, goal kicks, or free kicks. Cross the ball into the penalty area for your teammate to score off of. Impress people during practice! Even just a nice through pass over the heads of defenders can truly mean the difference between a terrible loss and your team going to the championships!! So good luck on your journey and I wish you well!
Dribbling The Ball
So, now that you've learned to shoot, you can kick the ball properly. But that can't really help you if you can't move with the ball. You know, run. Dribbling inherntly isn't very difficult to explain, but getting the hang of it tends to be the problem. Honestly, that's probably something to keep in mind for all soccer skills, and a lot of general things in life. It may seem simple, but sometimes getting better isn't only about dificulty, but repetition of simple things. Now that was enough life advice from me this early in the morning! On to learning the basics of dribbling!
Similar to before, I will now include another link for people who are confused by my vague instructions!! So please click here if you're confused!
